This is a recipe for an easy to make vanilla sponge cake without using an oven. This is best served with cold milk. The recipe can be altered by changing the essence flavor or adding other sources of flavor to diversify the taste of the cake.
For this recipe, you will need to use a karai, which just means a shallow wide non-stick pan
Ingredients
Kitchen Wares
Directions
Break the eggs in a bowl and whisk as much as you can then add the cup of powdered sugar and mix well.
Add the cup of all-purpose flour, baking powder and salt then mix until there are no more lumps.
Add the melted butter then mix until the batter is smooth then add the vanilla essence before mixing again to ensure that there are no lumps
Grease the baking pan with butter then add a pinch of flour on the pan and swirl it around the pan removing the extra flour before pouring the batter into the pan.
Pre-heat the karai and add the cooking oil to prevent sticking. You could also use a wide metal ring to prevent the baking pan from touching the oil.
Place the baking pan on the ring and cover for about 45 minutes before checking if the cake is ready.
